Big News Finally!!!

Well we finally got the good news we've all been waiting 2 weeks for! The movie A Dog's Breakfast will be distributed by MGM! More news will be released shortly along with the "real" trailer. To read more about the big news just go here.
I can't wait to see this movie!

Firemen :)

Well we had our last leadership class for 2006 yesterday. This was a very fun and interesting class. The class was held at the Oklahoma City Firemen Training Facility. After we arrived we had three separate firemen speak about their area of expertise.
The first speaker talked to us about the general job description of being an OKC fireman. OKC firemen respond to about 1 emergency call every 8 minutes! These calls range from people being locked out of their cars or homes to suspicious materials to of course fires. There are about 800 to 900 firemen for the oklahoma city area. That may sound like a lot, but it really isn't when you consider the amount of area they cover and all the duties they perform.
The second one was about the medical part of being an OKC firemen. All the firemen must be certified as and EMT or higher. They are usually the first responders to an emergency so they need to be able to stabilze any one who needs medical attention.
The third speaker spoke about the special operations program. The special operations teams handle search and rescue, hazmat and water rescue. After hearing about what all they do I think they really should be called emergency response teams instead of firemen! I definitely have a new found respect and appreciation for all the firemen. Thank you!

On another note we're going to get our first snowfall of the season today! Brrr, It's gotten really cold. We'll probably start getting sleet, snow and ice here in a couple of hours. heh, Maybe the office will be closed tomorrow. If the schools are closed then we are too, so I'll just have to watch the news.

Congratulations!!

Congratulations to David and Jane and the rest of the cast and crew of A Dog's Breakfast!! The first screening has been a great success. I have been hearing great reports from a number of people who were able to attend.
Apparently the movie is absolutely hilarious. I can't wait til David has a screening a little closer so I can attend.
Everyone has said how wonderful David, Jane and Kate were with all those who attended. David greeted each person as they were waiting in line to get into the theater and even took the time to talk on the phone with someone who was not able to be there.
An announcement about the distribution of the movie is supposed to be released shortly. I can't wait to hear more. For more information about the movie and news updates just go here.
Here's a clip of the movie.
One thing I do know is that the official trailer is supposed to be released very soon!

Changes

Well, my parents are going to be moving! They have lived in Woodward, OK for the past 12 years, which is the longest they've lived anywhere. My dad is being transferred to Muskogee, OK. He started work there today. My mom will probably finish out the school year teaching in Woodward, so my poor dad is going to drive to Muskogee on Monday mornings and then head back to Woodward on Friday's to spend the weekend. We'll see how long that lasts
To help out I went up to my parent's house over the weekend. I ended up painting and texturing the kitchen and dining room walls from 10am til 6pm on Saturday. Whew. My arms were a little sore the next day. Neither my mom nor I had ever done any texturing before. Once we figured out how to do it it wasn't too hard, just very time consuming. The room looks great though if I do say so myself

Leadership! :D

Well I attended my 3rd Leadership Class yesterday. The class met at the local police headquaters. We were shown around the facility by the police chief for an hour and then the city manager talked to us about how this specific city is run for the next 30 min. Once we were done there we all loaded up into our cars and drove over to another town to their city hall. We met with the mayor, city attorney, a county commissioner and 2 of our state representatives. They spent the next hour and a half telling us about their roles in government and then answering any questions we had. I was quite impressed that they were all willing to come speak to us on an election day!
The city then provided lunch for our class. The mayor and one of the state reps stayed with us and chatted during lunch. I do believe that the state of Oklahoma has some of the friendliest, most down to earth politicians in the country.
Our next class should be really fun. We're going to the fireman training facility!
