Getting settled in

Well I'm finally inprocessed to my new company here. I thought I would be really nervous about meeting everyone, but I really haven't. My husband and I are in the same Battalion. I am really happy about that. Our companies are right next door to each other in the same building. We are able to drive to Physical Training (PT) together in the mornings and if we both have some free time we can just step out the back doors of our companies and hang out together.
I arrived to my company late Friday the 21st so I didn't have much time to meet many people in my company. I did meet my team leader. I'm not really sure what to think of him yet. He has been really helpful so far though.
Monday they had me start off in the company by going to the firing range on ammo detail. It was kind of nice because it gave me time to just talk and get to know some of the people in my company. The only bad thing was that we had to be there by 0600 so I ate a granola bar on my way in. My SGT bought those of us on his team coffee or hot chocolate. I was really glad that he did. We didn't get to go to lunch so that was the only thing that keep me going in the afternoon.
On Tuesday I had to go back out to a different range to be on guard duty. We had to be there by 0500 that morning. So it was a long day. I enjoyed it though because I was the tactical commander in the hummvee, which basically meant that I rode in the passenger seat and sometimes had to get out and be the ground guide when we were backing up or something. The driver is a Specialist in my platoon so it was nice to get to ride around with him. We were able to talk a lot so I was able to get a much better feel for the company and my platoon. I really like my first sergeant he's really nice and funny.
Yesterday I was all ready to do PT with my company for the first time, but before we began they called about 10 of us out to go back inside. We all had to do a urinalysis. That's always fun :p Fortunately the female SGT who had to observe me was really unobtrusive about it. I've heard stories where the SGT will squat down and really watch you pee into the cup. After PT was over at 0730 we all left to shower and change into ACU's and didn't have to be back until 0930. I worked on getting all inprocessed with the battalion and then we all left for the day at 1230. :)
I will be getting all of next week off to get my things unpacked here at home. I am hoping that I can get it all finished.
It is definitely nice to be home and living with my hubby again. I can't believe that we were apart for 19 months! A lot of people have asked me if it has been difficult to live together again after so much time, but it hasn't at all. Of course we've been married for a long time so that probably helps.

Today was a good, but a bit sad for me. We weren't able to be with any family again this year for Thanksgiving. We did have a soldier from my husband's company over. He doesn't have any family here either and would have just stayed in the barracks. So I made a turkey with all the fixings. It turned out quite nice.

I hope that everyone (who celebrates) had a wonderful holiday!
