AIT Life
Whew, I can hardly believe I'm on the internet! I stay pretty busy right now. I rarely call anyone except for my parents and Matt.
I was chosen to be school First Sgt so I have a few extra duties. I get to wear a shiny 1SG pin on my phase badge though.
I get up between 0400 and 0420 every morning to be in formation by 0450. We then do PT (physical training) from 0530 until 0630. After PT is over I have about an hour and a half to shower, change clothes, clean my room, walk to the dining facility and be in formation by 0805. As 1SG I get everyone to form up so we can do accountability and then I make sure they all load up on the buses. We have class from 0830-1110 and then we form up outside to march over for lunch. I either call cadence myself or have someone do it for me. Most days I ask for a volunteer. We then eat from 1130-1210 and then march back to the school. Once we arrive at the school I have to lead everyone in the Signal Corps March, The Army Song and The Soldier's Creed. After that we go inside and have class until 1600 (4pm). We have to clean the school every day and then load the buses to go back to the barracks. We have formation at 1645(4:45pm) to about 1730 (5:30pm) or 1800 (6:00pm) depending on the day. Then we are released to eat dinner and do whatever else until bed check at 2100 (9:00pm). I typically have quite a bit to do and usually try to go to bed early.
School is going pretty well I have passed my first two classes. We will be starting a new class on Monday which will last for 3 weeks. I've heard it's not too hard, but can be pretty boring so I'll probably be consuming a lot of coffee!
I get to see Matt on the weekends now which is really nice. Since I am a phase five I'm allowed to wear civilian clothes when I'm not on duty and can go off post. I got to wear my hair down for the first time in 4 months. It has gotten a lot longer. :p It was really nice to be able to get away for a while and to not be in uniform.
If you have my number feel free to give me a call. I don't get to have my phone with me during the day because it's not allowed, but if I have it and I can answer I will. You can also leave me a message if I don't answer and I'll call you back!
