eeep

I consider myself to be a friendly person. I try to be nice to everyone and I like to joke around. I don't try to be a flirt, but I suppose some may consider my friendliness to be flirting.
I go to the post office every day to pick up mail from my work's PO Box and I also do a lot of mailings for work. As a result I have gotten to know the workers there quite well. About a year ago they started teasing me about wanting me to bring them cookies. So I've brought home made cookies to the workers there about 3 times this year. Every once in a while when I get the mail out of the PO Box there will be a cookie or some candy. Well today when I got the mail there was a piece of real mistletoe in the box. My first thought was haha very funny. When I turned around one of the guys had opened the door and was standing there. He asked me if the mistletoe works. I just sorta stared at him dumbly and said uhh. I don't know. So he asked me again. That time I just looked at him and didn't say anything. He then said not even on the cheek? So I finally said well I guess... As soon as I left and got in my car I called Matt and told him about the whole thing. The whole situation really got to me. My hands are still shaking and it's been about 45 minutes ago now. I may just be making more of it than I should, but now I'm not sure how to act when I go to the post office. I don't want him to get the wrong idea. Anyway. The weirdest things always seem to happen to me at the post office, unfortunately I have to go there every day.
Well I called Matt again. He's going to come over to my office in a while just to be with me so that's made me feel a little better.
Well I just needed to write that all down. Very cathartic.

  • Hi Misty. Hey two things you can do about your situation: 1) Talk to someone at the post office. Make them aware of what happened and that it bothered you. Unwanted attention of that kind is harassment. 2) Tell your boss what happened, so that he/she is aware of the situation as well. If something happens again - by all means report it to your boss and the post office supervisors immediately.

You should not bring anymore cookies or treats to the post office. Someone is getting the wrong idea. If you are asked about it, tell them the truth: you had brought them because you were friendly with everyone there. You never ment anything other than friendship, but that someone (no names - cause they will figure out who right away) seems to have misunderstood. You are not looking for anything other than being friends and have been advised to stop.

There should also be security cameras in the PO Box area of the post office. Take a quick look the next time you are there. If there are cameras - everything is recorded. This will help you.

I wish I lived close enough to come with you to the post office, but since I don't I can only offer you a squirrelly hug.
