Life
Things are going along pretty well here. I am not in school here right now; I am between courses. We finished our common core classes and are now waiting to begin our next phase of training. We are supposed to start classes again on Wednesday next week.
Right now my classmates and I are all inactive and so we don't really have anything to do all day. Yesterday I did have fireguard from 0400 until 0600. When we tried to find the females who were supposed to relieve us one was on bed rest and the other two had left for PT. Since I am inactive I volunteered to pull the next shift. So I was there until 0800. When we reported in to the sergeant to switch out she told me I could be on recovery until 1300 (1 pm). So I went back to bed and slept until 1100.
I did end up having to go on a detail in the afternoon. I drove for the first time in 7 months. 3 of us had to take the linens to be turned in and then pick up the new ones. I drove the van to the linen place. I was a little worried that I would have trouble driving after it being so long. Especially since I couldn't see out my mirrors very well because the van was packed to the ceiling full of linen. I did quite well. I didn't have any trouble at all.
I have so been looking forward to this weekend. The week seems to have dragged by so slowly. Matt will be here tonight. Unfortunately we all found out today that we have a bed check at 0100 so I can't stay in the hotel with Matt tonight. Someone in my barracks tried to commit suicide yesterday so we are having a suicide prevention briefing tomorrow at 0700. The entire company has to be there including all our sergeants. From my understanding the person who tried to kill themself was only attempting to because they want to change MOS's. All this is going to do for them is cause them to be held here even longer.
The 4th of July weekend was a lot of fun. My parents picked me up and drove me homr. I really enjoyed getting to be home for a few days. It is always really hard to come back here though. I think that's what has made this week feel so long. Saturday morning we all drove into Savanah. We just did a little shopping on the river walk and then ate lunch at a really good restuarant. Unfortunately it started pouring rain so we decided to go back to Hinesville. I was sad to see my parent's leave on Sunday. It was nice to get to spend some time with them. I really hope that Matt and I are able to get leave for Christmas and can go to my parent's.
Well that's all for now. I hope that everyone is doing well!
